Obituary

Rochelle Brown Weinberg, 85, passed away on April 13, 2022. Rochelle lived in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago most of her life and had her eldest daughter, Sherri Thomas, close at her side just before she passed away peacefully. Rochelle, born April 8, 1937, was a loving and dedicated mother of three and grandmother of six. She is survived by her sisters Phyllis Levin (children Matt and Adam) and Harriett Brown (children Laurel and Julian); her son Brian Weinberg (spouse Debbie, children Blaire and Morgan); her daughter Sherri Thomas (spouse Steve, children Ethan and Noah); and her daughter Karyn Polak (spouse Aaron, children Zak and Talya). Earlier in her adult life, she was married for 36 years to Irwin Weinberg, who passed away in 2014. Rochelle grew up on the South Side of Chicago and moved to Morton Grove, then Palatine, and ultimately Buffalo Grove in her adulthood. She loved playing mah-jongg, and for decades she walked miles every morning to enjoy bird watching, friends, and fresh air. She believed food was love and so baked thousands of loaves of “Grandma” bread and mandel bread, along with classic holiday dishes like gefilte fish and chopped liver. She enjoyed gardening, police and talk shows, and taking care of her local grandkids’ golden retrievers. May her memory be a blessing. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 17th at 10:00 am graveside at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
