Lorraine Barsky, 89, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Beloved wife and best friend of Eugene; loving mother of Roslyn (Scott) Purlee, Ira (Sharyn), Ellen (Ira) Shapiro and the late Sheila (David) Weygandt; cherished grandmother of Madi, Emme, Carrie (Elliott) Robbin, Joseph (Brittany) Shapiro, Jorie (Evan) Carlson, Marcus Shapiro, Ariel (Brian) Perterson, Kristen (Josh) Wilkinson; adored great grandma of Lana and treasured friend of many. Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, and teacher who loved her family deeply and was always there whenever anyone needed anything. A proud resident of Skokie for 63 years, she was warm, social, and cherished many lifelong friendships-whether from her childhood neighborhood or from Eugene’s treasured high school circle. After retiring, Lorraine and Eugene enjoyed traveling together, especially to her beloved home in Florida. She delighted in a good game of Mah Jongg and embraced every opportunity to connect with the people she cared about. Lorraine will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
