Obituary

Esther Minkus Shinderman, 93, died peacefully in her Highland Park home on June 17, 2014. Cherished daughter of Ben and Sarah Lakovitz, beloved sister to Harry Lake, devoted mother to Marc Shinderman, Nadine Halusic and Brigitte Cullem; she was a strong support to her first husband, Bernard Shinderman, her second husband, Leo Minkus, and in her later years, to her partner, Herb Rapport. Proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Esther was an important force in the success of the Shinderman Management resorts, including Oakton Manor and Nippersink Manor, in Wisconsin. Her strong spirit, commitment to family, compassion, elegant style and love of dancing will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by so many. Chapel service on Tuesday, June 24, at 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Following interment, will be the Dedication for Harry Lake, the dear brother of Esther, beloved husband of Violet Lake and loving father of Brad Lake.
