I must have met Jack a little after I met David Schein, who was one of Jack’s good friends, in the early ’70s. I remember them always talking about the “old neighborhood” and what made it special. I think Jack was one of those people who made it special! He was the best man at our wedding. No matter how much illness he had in the recent years because of the diabetes, never once did he complain when we saw him. He was that nice guy who always, always had a smile on his face. I am glad I got to visit him a few times on my trips to Chicago to visit my kids, etc. Rest in peace, dear friend. Carolyn Schein

Jack was a good friend. We worked together for several years. We car pooled to work. We talked about family, his and mine. Some good things some bad. We had dinner together several times. Karen my late wife and I were over at the apartment several times. He was involved in his community, the park district and some of Skokie politics for several years. He even volunteered to check on our puppy while we were on vacation. Unfortunately when he left work due to illness I, like most people didn’t find the time to keep up. We all have our own lives. I have thought of Jack many times since he left work. He was a very nice concerned person and a good friend.

Uncle Jack was a wonderful uncle, always calm and caring. Always positive and sure to work into each and every conversation how he loved his nieces to pieces.
We love you too, Uncle Jack.

Jack and I literally grew up together, living across the street from each other, same schools, same swim team, same playgrounds, same beaches, same friends. We knew each other for 62 years. My oldest and dearest and best friend. We went to each others’ family funerals because everybody knew everybody, our mothers played cards and maj jong, we went on family vacations together, stood up at each other’s weddings, and generally carried on as best friends do. He never complained about his unfortunate health circumstances, loved visits from my daughter Emily, and always asked after MY wellbeing and that of my kids. Jack taught me how to fish and what good lox really was. But more lasting and important, he taught me what real friendship means. I will miss my BFF deeply and forever but have comfort that he is at peace. Shalom My Friend.
