Obituary
Rochelle Solyom, born in Hungary in 1925. The only member of the Grunberger family to survive WWII, she defied fascist plans, joining the underground and securing the freedom of many of her countryman. Began a new life in Israel meeting her husband Steven Solyom of sixty-one years and helping to build a new nation. As brave at the end of her life as she was in her youth, she is survived by her two children Mira (Ed) Gibis and Oded Shoham. They are joined in their mourning by Safta’s grandchildren Amit, Karen, Gal, Amir, Raz, and Guy. With great sorrow all regret that her great grandchildren Ethan, Gabriella, Noam, Shahar, and Omer will not have the opportunity to listen and learn from such a remarkable woman. Private funeral services were held at Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, 9603 Woods Drive, Skokie, IL 60077.
