Dear Rachel and Atlas Family,

I send my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear Alvin. What a shock to learn of Alvin’s passing!

We taught together at the UIC College of Dentistry for many years in the 1970s-90s and Dr Alvin was a bright, charming faculty member whom the students enjoyed and learned so much from. He was an outstanding faculty member. I enjoyed working with Dr Alvin these recent years for our Odontographic Society of Chicago, which society and fellowship he enjoyed so much.

We always enjoyed Alvin’s Bright Smile, his uplifting greeting and gracious sense of humor. He was full of Joy on all occasions of our society meetings. I was so fortunate to enjoy Alvin’s friendship and to work with Alvin in recent years too.

It is shocking to learn of Alvin’s passing: yet, I see his Bright Smile, I hear his voice and laughter, feel his warm welcoming handshake, and I anticipate the good news he has to share with me. Alvin will always be in our hearts and memories.

I only had the honor of meeting Alvin a handful of times but he always had a warm smile on his face, a kind word and a good sense of humor. I also could see the love he had for his family. My mother and brother always had good things to say about him. May his memory be a sense of pride for his people.

WE/I HAVE SO MANY MEMORIES FROM CHICAGO DENTAL SOCIETY FUNCTIONS AND OUR DAYS OF TEACHING AT THE COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS. MANY TIMES ALVIN ENCOURAGED ME TO PUT AWAY THE LUNCH I BROUGHT FROM HOME AND GO WITH HIM TO MANNYS FOR A PASTRAMI SANDWICH. NEVER REGRETTED THAT FOR A MOMENT. I REMEMBER HIM AS A KIND AND GENTLE PERSON WHO THE STUDENTS LOVED AND ADMIRED. THEY GAINED A WHOLE LOT OF PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE FROM HIM AS WELL AS HIGH STANDARDS OF CARE. WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THE FOLLOWING:
