Obituary

GOLDNER, IRVIN Irvin Goldner, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 25th. He was a beloved husband of the late Toby Goldner (nee Jaeger), loving father of Arthur (Susie) Goldner, Joseph (the late Laurie) Goldner, Jerry Goldner and Judy Portman. Proud Papa of Jake (Natacsha), Brett, Michael (Ashley), Erica, and Todd Goldner and Tori and Aaron Portman. Charished uncle of Jerry J. Jaeger (Ann), Joseph Jaeger (Dora) and Helen Jaeger Roth. Fondly cared for by Tamara and Jane. Dear friend to Pessie, Yasha and Arkady. Irv and Toby were Holocaust survivors. After the War, they immigrated to Israel, just in time to fight in the War for Independence in 1948. Irv fought again in 1956 and in many border battles. In March 1959, with three children in tow, Irv and Toby came to America. Irv, who was a furniture maker in Israel, joined the Carpenter’s Union and worked for two companies over the next 47 years. He then retired from carpentry and worked for Arthur Goldner & Associates, Inc. in their property management division. Irv endeared himself to everyone with whom he worked. He will be terribly missed. Chapel service 2:30 pm at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 West Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the IDF and to the Illinois Holocaust Museum. For information and to leave calls of condolences (847) 255-3520 of www.shalommemorial.org.

Yellowstone Jerry Goldner

I have so many wonderful memories of my Father as a provider working 8 days a week arriving full of sawdust and kissing my Mother and as a devoted husband for 45 years until my dear Mother’s passing 28 years ago and as a male role model and best friend!

My Father worked too hard to have any time for us as children. Thanks to my brother Art’s success and generosity, my father was able put down his hammer and saw at age 60. My Father and I were blessed to able to travel to Italy, Greek Isles, Bahamas, Mexico, Jamaica, Yellowstone, California & Florida coast. He was never hot, cold, hungry or tired? He was the perfect travel mate, telling great tales and open to everything & everyone! He even embraced wildlife and showed no fear of the wolves, bears & bison!

We were all so lucky to have this amazing man in our lives for so long!! He is already missed greatly and remembered with endless love each hour of the day!
