To Steve’s family:
I was saddened to hear of Steve’s recent passing. Steve and I were classmates at Tonica High School, sharing an interest in Baseball and Basketball, and playing in the same teams.
Over the years it was great to meet up with Steve at some of our High School reunions, to catch up with his news, and to recall memories of our High School days. Please accept my condolences as I remember Steve, a gracious and clever person.

Mareta family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Your loving husband, father, and grandfather. For the 30 years I had knew him, either at the rink, or later in life at his office, he was always kind and caring and met me with a warm smile. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Leslie,
I was shocked and saddened to read of Steve’s death. He was such a kind, gentle person. Things like that shouldn’t happen to such a wonderful man.
I remember him always calm and smiling at the rink when us ladies were bundles of nerves. His calm, sweet presence was so charming and loveable.
I read the list of your grandchildren and I’m happy that you have so many others in your life. We all know, though, that there will never be another Steve Mareta. Please accept my condolences.
Fondly,
Sandi Freydberg

My wife Karen and I are very sorry to hear about the loss of Steve Mareta. My aunt Jennie and uncle Pete had 2 families. I grew up with the older family but did not know the younger family of which Steve was a part of. I am sorry that I did not get to know him or his brother. I went to college, married and moved to Michigan. A poor excuse but that and our age difference of 15 years did not help. We will pray for him and his family. My mother and Jennie were sisters.
