Obituary

Norton “Norm” Siegel, age 87; beloved husband of the late Marley Siegel for 49 years; loving father of Barry and Chuck (Julie) Siegel; cherished grandfather of Lee and Lainie; adored son of the late Abraham and the late Anna Siegel; treasured brother of Edith (the late Jack) Tauf, and the late Lillian (the late Abe) Worshill; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Norm was a graduate of Tuley High School and the American Academy of Art. During his career he worked as art director for several Chicago-area companies. An accomplished painter of acrylic on Plexiglass, he was a co-founder of the Morton Grove Art Guild. In later years he greatly enjoyed his role teaching students as an art instructor with an interest in art history. Chapel service Monday 12:15pm at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W Rand Road, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish United Fund. I remember all the way back to my toddler years, even before my uncle got married. He used to love Hershey chocolate bars and he would buy a huge family-size bar that he would eat as a night time snack, with a big glass of milk. When I stayed overnight at my grandparents home, he would share the candy and milk with me. I remember going to his wedding. I remember barbecues at his home in Morton Grove and holidays there. As the oldest cousin to his sons, I remember baby sitting them.
I also remember, when I was 11 or 12, he offered to pay me a dollar for every “E” on my report card. He had a kind and gentle spirit.
