It’s Thanksgiving 2018 and it’s the first time I don’t have Freddie to call me and wish me a Happy Thanksgiving and let me know what time WXRT is going to play Alice’s Restaurant. I miss you Freddie. You were a great friend. You were worldly and extremely knowledgeable and we shared so many Arlo experiences together. Thank you for all you’ve ever done for me. I hope you are rocking with Jimmy LaFave today. Blessings to you my friend.

Oh so many memories… our first meeting in Costa Rica for a week with Arlo, travels in Oklahoma from The memorial in Oklahoma City to Price Tower in Bartlesville and penguins in Tulsa. Tuna fish sandwiches and coffee ice cream. The Florida rendouous and always always singing. Freddie seems such a force of nature I was certain she would go on forever … and she will…

11 years ago I posted a message in an online Jimmy LaFave friends group. I was looking for advice for a next visit to New York. Freddie send me a message I can help you. She knew me because we met a few years earliers at one of Jimmy’s show. That message started a friendship in wich we met quite a few times even here in the Netherlands. Freddie I’ll miss you.

I met Freddie several years ago at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma. I knew we were fellow music lovers when I saw her T-shirt that said “I spent seven out of nine nights with Jimmy LaFave “. I remember saying to her “when I grow up I want to be just like you.” I aspired to going to as many musical performances as she all around the world. I have missed seeing her the past year or so and I’m saddened to know that our paths won’t cross again on this earth. She will be missed. My sincere sympathy, Karen Zundel.
