Ruthi Buchanan (nee Gelfand), age 71, adored daughter of the late Dr. Leonard and Trudy Gelfand; beloved wife of Ronald Buchanan, happily married for over 49 years; loving mother of Bradley (Lisa) Buchanan; cherished grandmother of Rachel; much loved sister of Sandi (Nat) Gershman; treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews. Ruthi had a great passion for opera, the arts and was a tireless advocate for many causes. Chapel service Sunday, December 9, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment at Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crohns and Colitis Foundation or Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park.
