Judith “Judy” Sharon Lapofski, 64, beloved sister of Mollie Malmin, nee Lapofski; devoted daughter of the late Sol and Zelda Lapofski. Judy cared deeply for her friends and animals. She was a virtuous woman with a strong spirit and sense of humor. Graveside service Thursday, 11:30 AM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. We met on the playground of Stone Elementary School in March of 1966. I had just moved to the north side from South Shore. I was painfully shy and didn’t know a soul. Judy came over and started talking to me and that was the beginning of a friendship that lasted 52 years. So many years of phone calls, swimming, eating, listening to music (especially the British bands), and the walking we did! We must have walked a thousand miles. She was my best friend, and I knew I could always depend on her. My kind, sweet friend.
