Obituary
Melvin Henry Sigel was born in 1923 in Chicago, IL, son to Morris and Faye Sigel and brother of the late Bertha Bruckman. He died peacefully at age 95 in Sun Lakes, AZ surrounded by family. Melvin was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the loving husband of the late Janis Sigel Goldman, who was the mother of his four children: Marla (Jerry) Wicks of San Tan Valley, AZ, Adrian (David) Sigel Weissenburger of Scottsdale, AZ, Richard (Nancy) Sigel of Naperville, IL, and Joanne (Scott) Farber of Newport, TN. He was also preceded in death by his beloved second wife, Jane Ganet Sigel. He leaves behind 19 grandchildren and more than 22 great-grandchildren. During his life, Melvin was influential in bringing a variety of businesses to Chicago. He founded Speedy Strippers furniture refurbishing as well as Paper World, a store in the Old Town neighborhood that sold a wide variety of paper products. He also owned real estate and rehabilitated various apartment buildings around the city and in Michigan during his life. He was an avid world traveler and remained active throughout his life up until his death. His sense of humor will be irreplaceable.
