Andrew C. Levitt

Sandy and I were shocked, to say the least, and saddened to hear about Andy’s death. He had been my good friend for 63 years. I shared many good memories with the “boys around the corner” from the time we met at 7 years old. There are so many memories that I can tell, such as tag wrestling in the Levitt’s living room; building snowforts/igloos and snowball fights; playing ball on Lauder, and laughing at the Three Stooges. We spent the humid summer days at my house, because we had air conditioning(!) playing Canasta at which Andy always cheated his way to victory by exchanging cards when he “sent” me out of the room to get him food! Then there was our XXX tour of Arizona with our young children; years later our drive from Detroit to Chicago via Mackinaw Island after a Winship reunion. And we should not forget our trip to Eastern Europe and the Piazzagate/peppercini fiasco.

He had a good “heart” and was never without a laugh or joke (except when doing business, for which he was always very serious). We will miss him. I know he Loved his family very much and was very proud of his girls. Condolences to Aimie, Susie and especially Sandy.

Andy was a favorite customer when I owned the deli on Dundee Road. Sherry and I became his clients for many years. Very sorry he passed away.
