I was very sorry to hear of the passing of our MEL Buddy. It was like losing one of our family. May his family continue to remember the good times and recover from their sorrow quickly.

To all of Jack’s family:
Miriam and I were very saddened to hear of Jack’s passing.
Jack and Shelly were very good friends of ours going back to the West side. Jack and I graduated from Marshall High School in 1953. He graduated in January and I graduated in June as he was six months older than me.
In addition to Jack and Shelly we were all part of a group of five couples who spent many hours and fun times together. We were all in the process of being engaged, marrying and starting families.
We were also naturally very sorry to hear about Shelly’s passing so many years ago.
I personally had not seen Jack for many years, and then by happenstance joined MEL (Men Enjoying Leisure) at the invitation of one of the members, and at the very first meeting I attended nineteen years ago at the JCC in Northbrook, there was Jack. He had joined the group several months earlier.
We chatted, reminisced, and caught up with the years we had not seen one another. It was like old times.
I asked him if he still played golf, and in his inimitable way said, “If you could call it that.” I said in that case, let’s get out and not play for money. We played at Sunset Valley off and on for the next couple of years.
So, without going on and on, both Miriam and I offer our sincerest condolences to your beautiful family and also tell you how very impressed I was on hearing all of Jack’s family’s eulogies.
They were, each and everyone, given from the heart, described him perfectly, and brought back a lot of wonderful memories of all our growing up together in very different and pleasant times.
Sincerely,
Harvey and Miriam Orlov

Rest In Peace, and when you get to heaven, may you find some new gin rummy players that you can play with and kibbutz with.
