Obituary

Stanley M. Sherman, 89, beloved husband and best friend of Eileen, nee Cooper, for 63 wonderful years; loving father of Marc (Jodi) Sherman, Daniel (Yang) Sherman and the late Scott Sherman; cherished Pop Pop of Sam, Lainie, Adam and Lilly Sherman; devoted son of the late Louise and Harry Sherman; dear brother of Burton (Denise) Sherman and David Sherman (Brook Foster); treasured uncle, cousin and friend of many. Stanley was a proud and longtime member of Rotary International. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ark at www.arkchicago.org. I used to call him ‘Uncle Stan’. We were not related but I could always count on him for good advice on everything related to Rotary. He knew a lot about our club and our district and he helped me prepare for District Governorship.

We travelled together to many places to find the ideal location for the District Conference of 2012. He negotiated the contracts, and was the main contact for the International Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, and many others.

We used to get together in the backroom of his travel agency, on Cherry Street in Northbrook, and kibbitz about many subjects, all related to Rotary.

He was a gentle man with an extraordinary knowledge of Rotary at its many levels.

I am proud to have known Stan and even prouder to call him my friend. I will miss him…
