I was newly married 1962 to veterinary student at U of I. Bill was doing work in Dairy Science Dept at U of I. He wanted to go in to medical school. Can’t remember when he left..my husband graduated in 1965…specialized in radiology and taught at UCD veterinary school till retirement in 2008. He was an equine radiologist.
Bill was a friendly, great young guy…in the Dairy Science Department…well liked by everyone. I’d talk to Bill…te telling him my husband wanted to specialize and be more than just a veterinarian…and my Tim did that!we went Washington State, Fort Collins, Co…got advanced degrees and board certified…he was head of radiology at the veterinary school at UCD.
I knew Bill wanted to go in…to med school. Lost track of him..when we left..thinking wonder where he go to. I found his obituary. I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds as tho Bill did great…had wonderful wife and family, I’m glad I got to meet him…knew he’d go far.
Tim and were married 59 years..I lost him July 2021, These guys Bill and Tim had a vision…accomplished great things and you and I shared in their lives…we were all so lucky,

William Appelbaum was the best zayde a granddaughter could ask for. He always knew how to make me laugh, and he would always watch my fashion show with random clothes that were at his and my savtas house. He was my best friend and i love him so much. Even though he passed more than a year ago today, I will always remember him and love him. I hope heaven is treating you right, and i hope its pretty up there. I love so much zayde and miss you a ton. I hope you see lila there, if so, tell her i say hello 🙂
Love, Eliana Appelbaum, Your loving grandaughter.

I mourn the passing of my teacher, my mentor, my role model, my friend “Dr. A.” As one of his med students back in the days of Martha Washington, we spend much time together. He taught me most of what I know, and many things which nobody else took the time to reveal and explain.
He was one of the kindest, warmest, most sincere, funniest and gentlest guys I have ever met.
Vaya con Dios, Bill. I know G-d has saved you his right-hand seat.
Shalom.
