Carey Allen Weiss, M.D., 70, died peacefully on February 23 of pancreatic cancer. Beloved husband and partner of Karen Pierce for 48 years, father of Aimee, Brian, and Tatiana Luts, grandfather of Rudolph and Anisia. Son of Jack (Z”L) and Lois (Z”L) Weiss, and Bernard and Gladys (Z”L) Pierce. Brother of Faith and Lee (Z”L). Nephew of Jack (Z”L) and Phyllis Rosen. Carey grew up in Skokie and was a lifelong Chicagoan. After training at Universities of Illinois and Michigan, he practiced patient-facing radiology in Ann Arbor and Chicago at Michael Reese and Mercy Hospitals. He was most proud of his work training healthcare workers and at the Sister Sheila Lyne Comprehensive Breast and Women’s Health Care Center to improve healthcare access and outcomes on the south and southwest sides of Chicago. He loved piano, photography, literature, food, and wine. Carey will be remembered for his wisdom, sharp wit, and a particular sardonic sense of humor. Carey, we love you and honor your legacy.
