Charles “Poppy” Adler Dubman, age 93 passed away peacefully Saturday evening in Los Angeles, California. A “Kohen” who was survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Kluber Lehrfeld) his loving children Andrew, Nina and Jane (Manzano Nicol), his devoted stepchildren Rachel (Steve) Silvers, Jay (Joanna) Lehrfeld, Robin Subar and his cherished grandchildren Julia, Daniel, Joey, Aaron, Elle, Jett, Levi, Max, Anni and Sam.

Charles was born in New York City in 1928 to his late parents Edna and Martin Dubman. He grew up a city boy with his late brother Morton. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the Army in October, 1952. He soon married Joan where they settled in New York and raised their first two children. When they moved to Chicago, they soon had their third child, Jane. He sat at Joan’s side as she battled breast cancer and soon passed away.

He soon met his second love, Barbara and they wed in 1991.

Charles was known for his consistent hard-working and endless perseverance no matter the situation. He worked as an apparel sales rep for over 30 years. He was an avid reader and stayed healthy and young by weigh-lifting, running, and sailing most of his life. He volunteered at the Northfield Senior Center after he retired as a franchise owner of Merry Maids. He was president of the local Rotary Club where he continued to make the difficult look easy and always with a Chicago hot dog and a smile.

May his memory be a blessing.
