We always enjoyed our times together with Brian, Terre, and their children, who have now grown up into wonderful people, a great reflection on Brian and Terre. Brian was a person of strong convictions and good humor, and a pillar of our Sinai community, and we shall miss him greatly. Z”L.

I will miss the humor and stories most. Brian was more than just our District attorney, he was a friend. He is, and will forever be part of our DPS family.

Brian was a great legal mentor and friend. He was always teaching about the importance of fostering relationships with people and stakeholders. I value the lesson of “patience will be your strength” that he taught me. I will miss him and appreciate all that he stood for and the values that he lived and shared. God bless the entire family. – Larry Maynard, Oakwood CUSD #76 Superintendent

I met Brian in 1988, within my first few weeks as Illinois Education Association General Counsel. Brian innately knew that in order to do the work that we loved as it deserved to be done, it was all about respectful, caring relationships, whether they be with coworkers, colleagues across the table or community. And while we represented our respective clients to the best of our skills and abilities, I knew no one as knowledgeable, no one as fair, no one as willing to work toward getting the right things done. He was not only the dean of Illinois school law but, more importantly, a truly deep down good person. He will be greatly missed by so many of us….

We first met at freshmen at SAM fraternity at I of I. Our friendship continued until his death. I knew Brian in so many roles — friend, journalism undergrad, Sports Editor of Daily Illini, roommate, teacher, law student, attorney, husband, father, grandfather, host, fellow Illini sports fan, and fellow Jew. He was a very critical thinker, and as close to a Renaissance man as anyone I ever personally encountered. He is gone but not forgotten. And is most assuredly missed.
