We’re so sorry to hear of Alice’s passing and our thoughts are now with Leon. Yesterdays’ services gave us a lot more insight to the love, warmth and heavy loss of our friend. She was special!
We met Alice and Leon at the Exeter pool like so many other folks on this list. We feel fortunate to have known her and will miss her and even though we moved to Sarasota to be near our children we had plans to meet with them.
Leon, please know the offer is still there and we hope to see you this fall.

I will Always remember the bright sunshine even on a cloudy day that Alice Always brought to the Exeter Pool!

I have known Alice since we were 4 years old. Although our family moved to Los Angeles when I was 12, we have kept in touch . We exchanged texts for her last birthday in May. I will miss her and her lovely way about her.

Although we didn’t see Alice and Leon all that often we enjoyed the time we spent together when they were in Florida. We always looked forward to dinners with them and Alice always got us up to speed on what was going on in Chicago. We will miss you and your stories and our once a year dinners. There are no words to explain how much I will miss Alice. We had such a good time and so much to talk about. I always looked forward to being together at the Exeter pool. Growing up, we had a small family without many extended blood relatives. We bonded closely with “The Shandlings” and that included Tanti Alice and Leon. I have wonderful memories of celebrating the holidays with them. Alice was a very special woman and had a great sense of humor. When I lived in Florida, her and Leon never missed a chance to visit with me. Alice always remembered my birthday which meant so much to me. Even recently, she was still trying to “fix me up” with my life partner. She cared so much and we will all miss her. I pray that she is at peace and send my love to everyone, especially Leon at this time.

Alice, you and Leon were such a prominent part of the Exeter community and experience and will be deeply missed.
It was always lovely to arrive at the pool and see the group of lively friends that surrounded you.

We became Alice and Leon’s neighbors only 8 years ago. Throughout these years, I only saw her during the summer time and mostly at the pool. She was always so incredibly kind towards me and my kids. Her knowledge and wisdom always amazed me. We could stand and talk at the pool for an hour and still not run out of topics. Once she told me “how can a person who lives in chicago never been to Portillo’s”. I knew at that point that I had to go there and still to this day this restaurant reminds me of Alice. Not one occasion or holiday would pass by without a kind message from Alice. I am so blessed to have known her. She will always live in my heart. Until we meet again, rest in peace! 🖤

Alice and Leon have been coming to the Exeter pool as long as I can remember 40 plus years. Always a pleasure to be in the pool with them. Alice telling her school stories and reminiscing about the past .
