Obituary

Irene Rattner, 88, née Hollander, of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and Boca Raton, Florida, born July 18 1935 passed peacefully on November 14, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Donald E Rattner, happily married for 64 years; loving mother of Jeffrey and Mitchell Rattner; cherished and proud grandmother of Alana, Samuel, and Max Rattner and Meagan Hayes; dear sister of Rebecca Katz and sister in-law of the late Joel Rosenstein and Marshall Rattner; treasured aunt of Craig (Anne) Rosenstein, Joy Gould, Tracy, Mark and the late David Rattner and great aunt to Jamie, Seth and Justin and aunt to many others. She will be dearly missed by Harryette, Elaine, Marilyn, Rochelle and many extended family and friends. Irene had a giant sweet tooth, an even bigger heart, loved to shop for a bargain but most importantly loved spending time with her family and friends in Chicago and Florida. Irene was preceded in death by her parents Max and Helen Hollander. Irene was a past member of Maine Township Jewish Congregation in Des Plaines, devoted to Jewish causes and The State of Israel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org and Friends of The Israeli Defense Forces, www.fidf.org. Chapel service Monday November 20, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park. Don, Irene , Jeffrey and I were shul and Marriott friends. They were always fun to be with. Always doing good deeds.
Our kitty corner neighbors every yontif at MTJC.

Irene was the most wonderful and giving person I had the pleasure of knowing.
She always lit up the room with a smile and could make you laugh with her wonderful sense of humor.
I was fortunate enough to call her my mother in law and my kids were blessed to have her as a grandma.
Gd rest her soul.

From the first day that I met Mrs Rattner she had been nothing but kind . I instantly loved her and Don my very own xtra parents who meant the world to me. Every year she would buy me a Christmas gift and believe me they were beautiful gifts and expensive. I have cherished every gift she brought me. Even when I left the job I still received a gift. My last gift was a
MK purse from her and Don. I will never forget her (mom) she was like my own personal mom. Only if we had more people like Mrs Rattner (mom) in the world. Mom was kind compassionate, and sweet . She will be dearly missed. I love you and you will always be in my heart❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏.
