Obituary

Laurence “Lorry” Cohn, 72, of Schaumburg,IL, found eternal peace on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023; He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Jenny, his adoring partner and wife for over 47 years; loving father and the best Dad you could ask for to Adam (Val) and Seth (Alicia); his treasured sister Lisa; He cherished every moment with his granddaughter, Clare; devoted son of the late Sheldon and Doris; Lorry was known and loved by many. Lorry’s greatest passions in life were his family, music, playing the guitar, and helping others. Lorry was an incredibly talented musician that shredded the ax for over 50 years and could absolutely melt your face. He spent the last few years taking singing lessons and elevating the quality of his voice, which was beautiful and extraordinary, raspy yet smooth. Lorry held a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University, and a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University. He spent much of his early career in business development as an Account Executive, selling office products at Boise Cascade, Corporate Express, and elsewhere. More recently, he was thriving as a Senior Graduate Admissions Counselor for Roosevelt University, helping adult students to take the next step in their lives. Lorry was one of a kind… He worked hard and loved harder. He was always cracking jokes and had a phenomenal sense of humor. He had a temper but was always quick to forgive. Lorry had a multitude of nicknames such as Black Cherry, Snake, and more. He was as generous as anyone you’ve met. He rocked a most impressive mustache. Lorry loved to travel; he was particularly fond of taking trips and exploring the world with his devoted wife, Jenny. He had a distinguished collection of fedoras and flat caps he wore fondly. And nothing brought him more joy than jamming with his best friends and practicing songs with his band mates. Celebration of Life “Glory for Lorry” Thursday August 24th, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Moretti’s of Hoffman Estates (Unique Events building), 2525 W Higgins Rd., Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.
