I have many memories of Lou. The one that sticks out the most was his humor. He would always tell his customers when they were leaving the design appointment; you know what they say in Italy? Then he’d pause to hear them say; no what? Then he’d just say in a nice way of course, get out! His customers would laugh as they walked away, and it still makes me laugh when I think about it today. Lou was my mentor in kitchen design for 22 years, he taught me everything I know about kitchens. Lou always cared about how my wife and I were doing. He will be missed but will always have a place in our hearts.

Louie was always quick with a joke but he had a kind and quiet side. Louie was a gentle giant. I really liked him and we once spoke on a deep personal level privately, that helped change the trajectory of my life. I opened up to him about my concern about adoption and he assured me that everyone would love that baby no matter what. And he said it with such quiet reassurance I know he had to be right. He was a terrific husband and dad, and a great guy.

Lou
You probably never remembered, or maybe never even knew that you are the reason for my happy life with Marcia. I’ll refresh your memory. In September, 1967, we both took dates to the same party. Your date was Marcia’s cousin, Eileen, and my date was someone with whom I had only a casual relationship. During the party, Eileen sat next to me, said that she had the perfect girl for me and gave me Marcia’s number. You know the rest.
Thank you for all the laughs and good natured barbs. The many nights we spent playing cards and laughing at your wirecracks. are etched into my memory – in the good times file.
Most of all, thank you for your part in making my life perfect.
Sorry, I haven’t seen you in many years. Hopefully, we’ll meet again in heaven.
Your friend, Joe Liss

Sometimes Ann would be away from her desk when Lou would call, and I would answer her phone, and Lou was always ready with a joke. He was hilarious and warm and friendly even though he didn’t know me.

I had the great privilege to work beside Lou for many years. We became great friends, sharing family memories, life stories, and our passion for food. I will cherish these memories always. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
