Great-Great Aunt, cherished by so many, but just too many to actually list!
Elaine was born in Brooklyn New York to loving parents Jean and Morrie. They moved to Chicago in 1933 and lived modestly on the west side of Chicago. She got her teaching degree at Roosevelt University and went on to teach kindergarten and first grade. She eventually gave up teaching to become a full-time mother, partner and wife.
Elaine’s Bed and Breakfast was well known in our family and was welcoming and open all year round, except when she was traveling. She and her husband Ben traveled to nearly all points in the world. Perhaps the most unique trip was a 6-week freighter trip to South America where they were the only passengers.
Most notably she was an incredible dog lover. And the dogs loved her. Among the many dogs she raised, 5 were Rhodesian ridgebacks that were shown and 2 selected as champions.
Her life bloomed and she showed it with her green thumb and wonderful meals. She was a great, warm and loving host. We are all going to miss the empathy, support and generosity she always had for everyone!
In the last few years of her life, as her health declined, she made new friends. She was supported by several amazing souls including Grace Fernandez, Ramil Zambra, and Nadiya Yusypyuk. Along with old friends, Barb Levy and Elline Eliasoff, our family has grown and we are so thankful for them. That was the most beautiful service. She was loved, loved, loved. Traveling with her was a riot. Belize was so much fun. Man, she was a go getter. Whenever you were in her presence You felt warm, welcome and peaceful. We loved her and still do.

I loved her so much. We got to spend a lot of time together when I lived in Glencoe. . We had so many laughs and we always went to Frank and Betsy’s. For lunch when I visited and it was something I always looked forward to. She was always on a diet but somehow the rolls always disappeared.. She was always happy and loving. Whenever we saw each other both our eyes lit up. I will miss her forever.

When I met both of your parents 45 years ago. They welcomed me into their home just like I was a family member. Your loving Mother was a beautiful, gracious woman that only showed me love and affection. When we spoke, she always listened to what I had to say and encouraged me to chase my dreams. She had a direct impact on my life as much as your wonderful Father did. Elaine, thank you for the wonderful memories.

My Aunt Elaine was 16 years old when I was born and within five years I was attending her kindergarten classes. Sometime in the fall, maybe it was Halloween, she used to make the best gingerbread men cookies ever! A forerunner to her unbelievable passover dinners. One year I was lucky to be invited on one of the famous Rozansky trips to St. John – we had a blast, and I loved being with everyone.
My aunt was a very loving, kind and generous person whose memory I will always cherish. My cousins Phil and Maureen were very blessed to have her as their mom.

Grandma Lanie, as we called her, was always a joy to be around. She held herself with grace and refinement, was always very supportive, and was truly the best grandma anyone could ask for. I cherish all of our memories and travels together, especially all of the times we shared in one of our favorite family destinations, St. John, USVI. Ringing in the new year together has been a family tradition of ours for many years. Each year we’d reflect on the last, look forward to the future, but most importantly enjoy the present. I miss her dearly and will hold my memories of her close to my heart forever.

Always a wonderful hostess. We loved her so much. Many happy memories of all of us together for the holidays and just get together for a night out. We shared our love of dogs. She’s playing with all of them now. She will be truly missed and remains in our heart.
