Obituary

Selwin E. Price, 93, passed away on October 8, 2023 from complications after a stroke. Sel was the beloved husband of Syril for more than 70 years. He was the proud father of Debbie Cotton, Marc (Donna z”l) Price and Neal (Laurie) Price and the adored “Poppa Sel” of Michael (Joanna) Tuber, Jordyn Cotton, Becky (Greg) Smith, Lauren Price, AJ (Emily) Price and Jake Price. He delighted in his 3 great-grandchildren Halle, William and Davi. Dear brother of Roquel (Harold z”l) Landsman and uncle, cousin and friend to countless others. Son of the late Burton and Anna of blessed memory. He was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. There were so many things that Sel loved, including family, travel, photography, nature, stamps, the White Sox, water, and lighthouses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jewish Community Centers of Chicago (www.jccchicago.org), Congregation BJBE (www.bjbe.org), or the charity of your choice. October 11th, 2023

At my mother Charlotte’s 80 th birthday, Selwin came over and sat down next to me and told me that when he looked at me it sent chills down his spine. He said that I was the spitting image of his grandfather who died on the very day that he was born.

Having been told by my mother since early childhood that I was really a Price-and not at all like a Fromson- I was deeply flattered. I have always thought of Selwin as the true patriarch of my family.
