Dear Leslie, I am so sorry to hear of Hank’s passing. He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. We worked together lots of years at the SAO and then later commuted to our offices on the train with a whole bunch of great friends. I am so sorry for your loss. Hank will be missed and the memory of him is a blessing. Joan Cherry

I knew Hank since Volta grammar school, he was my brother’s friend and classmate. Hank was a couple of years older than I was, but we often talked about our old neighborhood Albany Park and my brother Alan.
Hank was always friendly, funny, and a great guy to talk to. It was a pleasant surprise when we reconnected in the SAO.
May his memory be for a blessing. Condolences to his family and friends.

I am more in Brother Dan’s age group. Many of us had heard of the passing but could not get the details for the service.
Hank was Dan’s little brother years ago when I knew him from the State’s Attorney’s Office. What a class guy Hank was. I never knew the details of his family and personal life. I only crossed paths with him. We would always visit. I had noticed his absence from my various paths. I will miss that occasional run in. What a lovely, funny man he was. This must be so hard for his family and friends.

Hank was a fun guy. We had a lot of good times in the Office. We also had a regular breakfast group that met weekly at Jack’s resteraunt. God Bless Henry and Leslie and the Wolff Family

All of my memories of Hank are very sweet. For example, joining Hank at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Saturday afternoons. Hank enjoyed playing guitar especially during the group sing-a-long following each lesson. Hank excelled at “If I had a hammer”. Could that have portend a judges gavel?
Or, listening to the myna bird in Hank’s house on Monticello. The bird talked and shrieked non-stop. Whenever I called Hank. I could hear the bird in the background creating a ‘rain forest’ feel in the Wolff household.
My strongest memories are talking with Hank about how Parkinson’s was affecting his life. These were difficult conversations, listening to his challenges. But he always moved the conversation to family, sports, politics and his fondness for Chips Ahoy cookies. Hank would end the conversation by saying ‘gotta go now’.
Hank was a dear friend for over six decades for which I am deeply grateful. ‘No, Hank the red spot on your gums is pimento. You don’t need to see a dentist.’
Love you Hank.

I met Henry after 8th grade and we’ve been friends since. My dad drove Hank, Harvey and me every morning to high school for three years. We lived down the street from one another in Peterson Park. Von Steuben High school was a great time especially with a group of friends that included Henry. Everyone talks about their grade school/high school friends in the past, but we all are still friends. I was Waitz and he was Wolff, so we were never too far from one another in the seating charts. We spent a lot of time together with the boyz. On the night of high school graduation, we drove around talking about the future. In college, when Dave Lasky hijacked me in DeKalb to drive to Champaign, I went to see Hank at the University of Illinois, where he was beginning his next stage of his life in pre-law. He was always ready to talk baseball, the White Sox, and Sandy Koufax. Sometimes, he cheered for the whole Dodger team. During the Jewish high holidays, a number of us would stop at Hank’s house to visit and take a break from the service. We knew he was always home because he never went to temple. After college, Hank took his law degree and worked for the State’s Attorney’s office. He had terrible hours but as they say “he learned a lot.” He married Leslie, worked for State Farm, as an in-house attorney, and Josh was born. Josh was the apple of Hank’s eye. Baseball, hockey, a sense of humor, a smile and a kind heart. Hank always spoke with great pride about Josh. Hank, Henry, Hankie (even “double f”) were all my friend. Our conversations were usually about sports and politics, not to mention the usual updating of the status of the other boyz. He was loyal, caring, a good person to talk with and a kind soul. I will miss him.

I’ll never forget how I met Henry. He had just moved in to the house that was 2 houses from me. I saw him outside. He seemed to be around my age so I went over to introduce myself. Needless to say I never thought that meeting would last a lifetime.
We spent much time together on his porch especially on Friday and Saturday nights after returning from Gullivers, , The Gold Coin or not too often dates. Henry was right leaning and I was more left leaning in politics. This difference often led to some rather heated debates.
Henry and I traveled, saw concerts together and spent many weekend nights at that “Palace” ( Dave Lasky’s house) to play cards.
I loved Henry, we had a strong bond to each other and I will miss him.

I worked with Henry at State Farm for many years and have so many fond memories. Henry was very kind, funny, loved to walk through the office singing Motown, and was generally one of my favorite co-workers. I am sorry to hear of his passing, and I offer my best wishes, condolences and prayers for Leslie, Josh, Daniel and Henry’s entire family and loved ones.

I go back to grammar school,/ high school days with Hank. Hank “”Wooo” was one of the Boyz. Almost every Friday and Saturday night (unless we had a date which wasn’t often) we were all together. Hank would often stop at my house to use the bathroom on his walk home from the bus stop. He would visit with my mother as I worked after high school. As you know the Boyz were very close through high school and college. While we went separate ways after college we still kept in touch and would get together. Henry/ Hank/ Woo will be missed.
