Obituary
Allen had a heart of gold and was the most kind, caring, and loving son, husband, father, Zadie, and brother. Dear friends considered him a brother and he was the definition of a true “mensch”. Allen’s biggest love was spending time with his family and everyone around him knew just how loved they were by him. Allen always had the right words to say, whether it was simply sharing his wisdom, helping someone through a difficult time, or telling a funny joke that would be talked about for years to come. A true role model, Allen’s genuine care for others will forever live on by those whose lives he touched. Leaving behind a huge hole in everyone’s heart, he is already dearly missed and will forever be remembered.
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Northwest Suburban Chabad, www.nwschabad.org, where Allen was an active member and could often be found practicing his love for Judaism.Interment Shalom Memorial Park. My journey and friendship with Allen began when I was 9 years old and in the third grade together. He was always generous and kind, with a heart of gold and a sense of humor. I was not at all surprised when Allen became a tax accountant, as he was always good with numbers.
He was someone that was constantly there if you were in need. I have good memories of being with him on his 25th surprise birthday party, given by his lovely wife, Gail. Although I moved away from Chicago many years ago, we kept in touch and called on birthdays and other important moments. I feel as though I lost a brother and am very sad about the loss of this wonderful and caring man, who was so devoted to his wife and family. My heart goes out to everyone whose lives he touched with his beautiful soul.

Allen has done my tax reporting for many years. It may seem strange that “doing my taxes” should be a pleasant experience, but Allen always made it so. His warmth, his gift of listening, and his professionalism made every encounter enjoyable. He will be greatly missed.

Al was a very special human being. To say he was kind doesn’t begin to capture what a wonderful person he really was. ALLEN and I were friends and fraternity brothers in college, and our relationship extended professionally as well. I just heard the news and I am in shock. I will forever miss him. my thoughts and prayers go out to the family and I hope the wonderful memories of Al carry you through this difficult time. Sincerely, GARY and Katie.

There are not enough kind words to give tribute to such a wonderful man. Allen and Gail raised four spectacular daughters! I give thanks everyday for how the Green Family crossed paths with my nephew, Eric. Allen’s ongoing friendship with Eric was special beyond words. He made time every Friday to FaceTime with Eric while the candles were being lit. Eric thought so much of Allen, that he fondly called him dad. You will forever be in my heart and I pray for healing for the entire Green Family.

Allen was a friend, who through his kind soul became an example to me of someone who I respected, and wanted to be like. We met as young fathers with a common goal of raising our children, while wanting also to contribute to the growth of our Jewish community. Allen always put his family and others first, with an appreciation of his culture and the human condition. We stayed in touch over the decades, and reveled in each other’s nachas, empathized with each other’s challenges … and gave thanks for what blessings came our way. Allen was my dear friend.

I was a client of Al (and Sharon) for many years and was saddened to learn of his passing.
He was a kind man who always had a positive energy. Al was also blessed with an ability to explain complex accounting issues with simple stories. Often weaving in a joke that fit the exact situation .
Most of all he was someone who I trusted. Someone who genuinely cared.Someone who listened to my questions, gave balanced feedback, and shared opinions that I always trusted.
Most people do not look forward to going to the dentist or seeing the accountant yet somehow Al made our calls and visits memorable and fun.
To his family and closest friends I wanted to share a few words. It is clear that you are hurting today as you have lost someone who was very special. May his genuine warmth, caring attitude, and positive light continue on in your memories. Know that his life was one of service and purpose. Allen Green had a huge impact on more peoples lives than you may have ever realized. We share that loss.
May you find comfort in the weeks ahead and may Al rest in peace.

I met Allen as a client, one of his first, in 1986. Over the years, we developed a special bond and friendship. Professionally, his advice was practical and made sense. He offered it with a sense of caring for you as a person, not just a client. We talked about a lot of issues and matters affecting the world. Even on the phone, you can tell he had a smile on his face. A wonderful, caring person. I will miss our conversations about the world, not just accountancy.

To my dear family, Aunt Esther, Cousin Sis, Gail, Jami and family, Loni and family, Bari and family and Marni and family,
My dear cousin Allen was one the kindest, sweetest, loving, well rounded, wonderful man I have known in my many years on earth. I have so many memories of wonderful celebrations from the time we were young children celebrating Thanksgiving feasts every year together and so many happy events and Simchas that we shared. My heart is breaking for the loss of this beautiful man. I am so sorry I will not be able to be with you as I am out of town. I will livestream the service and I am sending my love to all of you. May Allen Green’s memory forever be a blessing and in time may we all have comfort in our memories of Allen and the wonderful life he lived andthe legacy of his children and grandchildren. We should all try to model our life after Allen.
