Daryl and I were childhood friends
Inseparable through high school’s end
We laughed and sang and fixed our hair
And lived our lives without a care
But as adults, our interests changed
So only early memories remained
At times we tried to reconnect
But never could we resurrect
That special love that children share
Adulting isn’t always fair
So to my friend who I so loved
I send a prayer to her above
For peace and rest so well deserved
My tribute to her lovingly observed.

Daryl was my cousn, Ellen’s sister-in-law. We had many pleasant conversations with Daryl over the years at family parties. Daryl always was happy to see us, as we were to see her. She always looked so well put together, too. May she rest in peace and may her memory be for a blessing.
