Lewis Katz, 85, beloved husband of the late Maxine for over 59 wonderful years; devoted father of Robert Katz (Chelsea Larner, partner), Michele Katz and the late Susan Katz; cherished grandpa of Liam, Caleb and Julien; dear brother of the late Marilyn (Lee) Nackman; loving uncle and friend to many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org) or to a charity of your choice. Chapel service Wednesday, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Through mutual neighbors who included invited me over for dinner, had welcomed me to the building and the 7th floor, I had the pleasure of meeting Lew. Several years ago, I had spent time selling insurance products. We had some great insurance conversations.

I am truly sorry to learn about Lew passing away. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and relatives.

Lew was a friend of mine and a really nice guy. A few years ago we went on the HOGs farm tour together and the car’s GPS was useless finding some of the remote locations. I drove and Lew was the navigator using paper written instructions about where to go to find the next location. We had a great time together, I will miss him.
