Seymour Kovitz

I’ve known Seymour since 1969 when I began working for Berlands. I even recall the 1st time meeting him when I was sent to work 1 day at the Howard Street Store. I was in wallpaper, but he had me move paint cans. I had no clue. He taught me how to use a 2 wheeler and the rest is history. We didn’t always agree but we had deep mutual respect for each other. When I opened my own stores in Phoenix, Seymour & then Karen actually moved to Phoenix for awhile, lived in our home, and helped build my business. Seymour taught me so much and we remained in contact even when I moved to Hawaii. He is definitely one of the hardest working people I ever met and he is definitely one of the main reasons I was successful in business, learning from him. He was 1 of a kind. a hui hou

Our almost daily conversations were so meaningful and now seared in my memory. .

We finally reunited when I was 18 years old. 1979.
We all went to the shvitz in lower Manhattan.

I’ve known Seymour since 1978. He hired me to work at the Ogden store for Paint City. Ever since then he has been my mentor and has always been there for me. He was always willing to do whatever it took to help me succeed at whatever endeavor I chose to do. In those early days I cherished our lunches together. He was my mentor and my friend. I will miss our talks and visits.
