Obituary

Lois Marion Silverman, nee Weiss, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Lois is survived by her loving husband Sanford and their three sons, Lawrence (Jennifer), Ian (Meredith) and Bradley (Octavia) and grandchildren Joshua, Hannah, Jaden, Lily, Parker, and Bailey. Lois was born on September 25, 1944, and was the only child of the late Edythe and Irving Weiss.

Lois was a brilliant child, skipping grades twice in school, graduating at age 16 and earning her Associate degree. While working at Commerce Clearing House, Lois and Sandy met through a network of superheroes known as Chuck and Nancy Levy, and the rest was history. Nancy was Lois’s cousin and Chuck, her husband, is a long-time friend of Sandy’s.

Lois and Sandy were married on June 25, 1965. Because they were both only children, they knew they wanted a big enough family that their kids would have siblings. When Bradley was born, they knew their family was complete.

Throughout her life Lois was heavily involved with the Jewish Women International (JWI), formerly known as B’Nai B’rith Women. She loved bowling with the women in JWI and was involved in running the league for many years. She often served as a league executive.

She enjoyed Mahjong and never missed a game with her friends over the years, playing almost until her final days. Lois was a dedicated needlepointer, completing hundreds of designs over the years, many of which she gifted to friends and family.

Lois was hugely supportive as her sons played little league baseball and performed in the school bands. As her children had children of their own, she became a proud grandma, spoiling her grandchildren as much as possible. There was nothing that Lois loved more than being a mom and a grandma, and it showed through her never-ending support.

It is unknown if there is a nail salon in the afterlife, but if there is one it is certain Lois will immediately find it.

Lois’s life was filled with love and adventure. After retiring Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband, wandering through flea markets in Florida, and soaking up time with her sons and grandkids. Lois adored her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved and was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
