Well done, my friend! Almost 102. I still remember your 90th birthday celebration, one of many joyful memories. You helped found the Skokie Photographic Society, and later dragged me in. Thank you for that. And I also have fond memories of you playing trumpet in the New Horizons Band. Good times. Love you and Blossom to the moon.

I have over 70 years of memories of Harvey and Blossom, of uncounted weekend brunches and dinners, along with celebrations of weddings and graduations. Harvey was a pure family man, doing whatever he could to keep us all together. Among my earliest memories of Harvey was going up in the plane, and hearing the stories of the extended family of my grandparents’ siblings who also loved flying, two of them building their own planes. In high school an opportunity came up for me to take an FAA approved ground school being given at the school, which I leapt at, but sadly lacked the funds to complete air lessons. Harvey instilled in me a love of aviation that I still carry, with Jayne referring to me as our family’s meteorologist. We didn’t always agree politically, but there was always a deep love of family that we shared. And, as mentioned in the service, those hugs. They were bear hugs. He was very supportive of my theatrical pursuits and came to see a show of mine when I was at The Second City. Although my work (and wanderlust) took me away from Chicago, with every visit home I was enthusiastically greeted with one of those hugs. He forgave my mistakes and rewarded my successes, always giving suggestions about how to make things better.

Dear Aunt Blossom and Cousins, our heartfelt condolences on Uncle Harvey’s passing. We will cherish our memories of this gentle, kind and passionate man. Loved hearing stories of the era after WW2 when our returning heroes reunited with their loved ones , and so many more memories over the years.
our hearts are with you
