Paula has always been in my life, beginning with babysitting me in Evanston long ago, when she was still quite young, as well.
Our families were so very close– our mothers were sisters– and that never changed, even after we moved south many years ago. On my regular trips in to Skokie over the years, the time spent with Paula and the family were memories I will cherish to the end of my days. Her parents, my aunt and uncle, are now gone, and will always, like Paula, be remembered with love and gratitude.
To Imad I send special condolences. He was Paula’s rock, steadfast and loyal, and the perfect partner for her… as she was for him. To my cousins, love and fortitude. I will think of Paula whenever I watch “General Hospital,” hoping that she is viewing, as well. We discussed the program so many times together, as we did in our last telephone chat just before she passed, and it will remain inexorably linked to Paula in my mind, one of many memory triggers of my lovely, brave cousin, who faced diversity and illness head on.
RIP, dear Paula– you will be forever in our hearts as a blessing!
