Obituary
Bill was born in Chicago on June 3, 1949. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago with honors with a Bachelor of Architecture and Design degree in 1974. He was then employed by Wendell Campbell Associates in Chicago and became a principal of the firm. In 1990, he accepted a position with Abbott Laboratories. As a project manager architect, he worked on planning and design for new manufacturing facilities across the globe. His final project before retirement in 2017 was close to home, when he helped renovate the Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest.
Bill was interested in photography, tennis, cycling, camping, fishing, cars, travel, music, and golf. He enjoyed living on Third Lake for fishing and boating and just admiring the lake in the off season. Above all, Bill was a “foodie”. Anyone who spent time with him would learn about the foods he loved and his favorite places to eat. He was often called upon to “start the meal” during family events. Bill was a great conversationalist and focused on knowing people and their stories. He was a confident, responsible man, and young at heart at the same time, which endeared him to so many.
