Obituary
A warm and engaging person who naturally drew others to him, Marty created a legacy of extended family and friends who treasured him. Regardless of who you were, Marty “saw” you and welcomed you for however long you were there, minutes or years.
In addition to a successful career in real estate, Marty loved coaching his children’s baseball and soccer teams. He enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball and took up skiing at midlife. He was also a proud member of the Running Hearts Club.
Marty was a loyal Bears and Cubs fan going back to the days when both played at Wrigley Field. He carefully planned family vacations and camping trips, including many to national parks.
Marty brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone he met. He will be dearly missed and his memory is a blessing.

We loved Marty very much & so enjoyed spending time with him. We have a home in Florida near Karen & Paul’s & got to visit with him & Sue there. I also was fortunate to see him in March on a recent visit to the Chicago area. Early in January 2025, Marty & I became pen pals. I really enjoyed getting texts from him. They were always upbeat & gracious regardless of his health struggles. I’m glad I will have those to revisit. He loved my dog Iggy & my dog loved him. He seemed to enjoy the photos of Iggy I would send him – much like an honorary grandparent. I will miss my pen pal.

Marty was always kind, loving, funny, & present at all times. I have so many wonderful memories of our families getting together, of our many camping trips, & so much more. He will be greatly missed, but SOOOOO lovingly always remembered & held close in my heart. His memory will surely be for a blessing. My heartfelt condolences to Tracy, Jody, Cary, Michael, Matthew, Sue, Isabelle, Luke, & Madeline, & to Marty’s vast “collection” of family & friends who were all so very treasured by Marty.
