Sally and I met in the elevator in Newberry Plaza shortly after I moved in, in the late 70s. We learned that we were very close neighbors in that we shared a wall. 🙂 She was in 42G and I was in 42F. I have many fond memories of our friendship, including her potato latkes, chocolate chip cookies, her wonderful warm smile, her perspective on life, and of course her recommendation that I give a girl I was dating another shot. I did. Now Renee and I have been together over 40 years. 🙂
I moved out of Newberry in the early 80’s, but we kept in touch. She was a special person in my life. She has her own folder in my Email: Sally. As life moved on, we didn’t communicate often, maybe once a year. The last email I sent to her was a happy birthday wish on 5/23/24. I didn’t get a response, which was unusual, so I called a couple times and left messages, and then life got in the way and I didn’t follow up. I just learned of her passing this week. I am so sorry. I will miss her. My sincerest condolences to her family. On a happy note, I want to share her 5/23/2023 email response to the email that Renee (my wife) and I sent to her that day. It was typical Sally!
“DEAR TERRY AND RENEE THANK YOU FOR YOUR FUN BIRTHDAY WISHES……LOVE YOU BOTH AND I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR ONGOING FRIENDSHIP….91 YRS….WOW….XOXO “
I will always luv ya Sally!

Sally and I had what I would call a rather close relationship, although we did not see each other very often. We shared a secret that others if any knew about. I will miss her. She was always a joy to speak with or be with. Dorothy and I extent our deepest condolences to Clifford and Larry.

Sending my deepest condolences to all of you following the loss of your mom. Hoping you find comfort in your memories. I remember coming to your house in Des Plaines with my husband Arnie. He wanted to show me the basement he finished for his cousin. Elayne Jacobs
