I’ve know Eileen for many years, and thought the world of her. She was the consummate advocate for her two sons , who lived down the street from John and me. I often saw her driving over for her daily visits with them, and on the weekends with her husband, Bruce. I’ll miss our chats. The work that Eileen did for Glenkirk will always be remembered. She was such a devoted and loving mother, and a beautiful person. May her name be for a blessing.

Dear Bruce,
I have so many wonderful memories of Eileen. We spent many hours comiserating over our families, while sleeping over at each other’s homes. She was an extremely loyal friend, and so sorry that we did not reconnect for a long time. But it’s your “old” friends that were your rock and formed some of what we all became. Such a strong woman, who will be sorely missed. May her neshama have an Aliyah, her memory always be a blessing.
So sorry,

We became fiends with Eileen and Bruce in 1978 when we both bought homes in the same development in Highland Park. We spent many social times together and our children often played together. My daughter, Randi still has the essay she wrote about Stevie when she was 11 years old. She is now 55. When anyone in our family needed Bruce’s medical advice, Eileen would say just come over. Both Eileen and Bruce have always been there for us. The two boys had a huge influence on our children. Eileen was the best mother any child could ask for. She would do anything for Stevie and Howard. We use to bake together and share recipes. When my mother was in her last year, living at our house, Eileen would take the time to visit her. Whenever I would see her, she always told me how wonderful my mother was. She was a shining light that we will all miss. RIP

Eileen will be remembered as a stalwart champion in support of the dignity and humanity of Steven and Howard. Her dedication to her sons is an example of “no greater love” and sets the bar ws should all strive for in supporting a family member with a disability.

Eileen and I met through a mutual friend in
the early 1980’s. Her boys, and my son, were
vey young then and we were all trying to
understand and navigate the autism landscape. Eileen was the most
determined and amazing advocate that I have
had the pleasure of knowing. May her memory be a blessing..

It is hard to believe that such a devoted and tireless advocate, friend, and, example to those facing challenges and difficulties and their families is not physically with us anymore. Her words and efforts were always inspirational while showing us and guiding us in ways to tale actual steps and actions to help others and those in need. Her motivating words were always backed up by her actions without seeking any accolades and recognition for the outstanding benefits and results that those she helped received. With support from her loving and caring husband Bruce , relatives and many friends Eileen was a person of great substance. Her presence and dedication to others and her family will always be with us as a reminder what each of us can do and mean to others. Her memory will always be a blessing. These thoughts and feelings are shared by all who knew Eileen. Love and respect. Shelly Schwartz

To say that Eileen worked tirelessly for Glenkirk is such an inadequate description of Eileen’s contributions. She was able to bring in many more people with her enthusiasm and knowledge. The benefits that she planned and orchestrated ( with help from others) were over the top. They were perfectly executed with delicious menus, decorations, fun raffle prizes and great auction items. She was so good with names and introductions and made all the people she knew feel like they were close friends. And, most of all, she was such a caring, loving and proud mother of her “boys”. She made the world a much better place and she will be missed. Prayers for comfort for Bruce , Steven and Howard.

It’s both with great sadness and disbelief that I write this tribute to Eileen. I met Eileen years ago in ORT. She chaired and elevated our Tribute Dinners and raised funds for Ort. Every time I came into Bruce’s office we talked. We spoke about the challenges of life, Jewish life, and family. In May I went to Poland and visited her father’s town Zombrova. I sent her photos. It was emotional for both of us. We talked about having lunch soon but it did not happen. Eileen was kind, smart and thoughtful. I will miss her. May her name be for a blessing.

Dear Eileen,
I will always remember your warmth and kindness. You supported me in so many ways and always spoke so positively about me to others. I’ll miss how you would stop by my office every day to ask about my kids and brighten my day. Just a few weeks ago, you gave me a beautiful challah cover, which I will use each Friday for Shabbat in your memory.
With love and remembrance,
