Obituary

Howard Lipsky of Mundelein, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2025, at the age of 70 while visiting Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on July 8, 1954, Howard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Miriam Lipsky of 49 years; his cherished mother, Zalma “Z” Lipsky; and his four loving children: Noah Lipsky (Tammy), Ava Markoutsas (George), Laura Abundes (Kane), and David Lipsky (Meredith). He was the proud grandfather of Chana, Nachi, and Lily Lipsky; Chloe and Matthew Markoutsas; Lazaro “Laz” and Ines “Nessie” Abundes; and Bennett Lipsky. He is also survived by his brother Larry Lipsky and sister Valerie Frossard. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his father, Irwin Lipsky.

Howard married his soulmate at a young age and began a life defined by hard work, love, and generosity. Through sheer determination and a commitment to quality, he built a successful company that served clients throughout the North Shore and beyond. Many of the crews he managed over 30 years ago are still part of the company today—a testament to his character. A believer in mental toughness and a sense of urgency, Howard approached both business and life with grit and purpose. He expected excellence, moved quickly, and inspired others to rise to the occasion. These values helped him grow a thriving business and build trust with everyone he knew.

But Howard was known for much more than his work ethic. He was a man with an enormous heart, a gift of connecting with people, and desire to help others. He had a deep compassion for those going through hard times and was always the person who would offer a hand—or the shirt off his own back. Though Howard never attended college himself, he believed strongly in the value of education and proudly put all four of his children through college, debt-free—one of his greatest accomplishments. Outside of work and family, Howard found joy in life’s simple pleasures: building fires, watching sunrises, taking road trips, mentoring others, and he loved all sports. He had a warm, magnetic presence and touched countless lives through his kindness and strength.

A chapel service to celebrate Howard’s life will be held at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, IL, on Monday, May 26th at 10am. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park. For information, including a link to view the service online, shiva, and to leave condolences, www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.
