Laurie R. Steadman, nee Wolnak, 76. Beloved wife for 54 years to Craig; devoted mother of Emily Steadman and Brendan Steadman (Ann Nguyen); adored grandmother of Poppy and Penelope Steadman; loving sister of Eve (Ronald) Bremen; caring aunt, cousin, and friend of many. Laurie was a bright light in our lives.We feel privileged to have reestablished our friendship after we returned to Illinois post Katrina.Laurie made us feel special.Now the angels will get to bask in Laurie’s goodness.

I have known and loved Laurie since first grade. She was a great friend. A good listener, with sound advice when needed. It was always an easy friendship – no drama. We live an hour apart, but she was always willing to make the drive, or meet me halfway. Sadly, I remember a few years ago when she had to cancel a lunch date we had because her throat was bothering her. Of course, we didn’t know then what was wrong with her. Since then, she has withstood untold trauma and misery, but never complained. She took great pride in her children, her work, her home. She leaves an irreplaceable hole in my heart that will always belong to her.
