Dorothy “Debby” Kleifield, nee Elbom, 96. Beloved wife for 43 years to the late Leonard; devoted mother of Barbie (Rick) Zindell, the late Jeffrey (Debra) Kleifield, and David (Liz) Kleifield; adoring grandmother of Stefani (Bradley) Pollack, Tracy Zindell (Joe Amodeo), Scott (Ali) Zindell, Jennifer (Eric) Weinmann, Allison (Jordan) Shafran, Justin (Ari) Kleifield, Lainie (Ryan) Blatt, and Nicki Kleifield; proud great-grandmother of Zoey, Olivia, Lila, Willow, Ayla, Jonah, Henry, Sonny, Dylan, Grey, Parker, and Beckett; dear sister of the late Max (the late Ruth) Elbom. Debby’s family would like to thank her caregiver Michelle for her dedication and compassion. Debby was the owner of Emmes Gifts and Jewelry in Skokie for many years. She spent winters in Hallandale, Florida, playing card games and enjoying friends. She was a fabulous storyteller, in Yiddish and English, and will be remembered for her wit and warmth. Debby will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rolfe Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, www.rolfefoundation.org, or Jewish National Fund, www.jnf.org. Chapel service Thursday, Nov. 20, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment to follow at Shalom Memorial Park. And my mom. They were wonderful friends
No one could tell a story like Debby. She was definitely an upbeat funny lady. I haven’t seen Debby in a long time but I could never forget her warm loving personality.
