Fred Carman

Fred Carman, age 99, born on December 16, 1925 and died on July 9, 2025.  Beloved husband to Gladys (deceased 1987) and loving father to David, Ellen (deceased 1970), Bruce (Janice) and Mark; cherished grandfather to Grace; dearest son of Alex and Mary Carman; beloved husband to Adelle Heisler (m.1992) and loving stepfather to Larry (Karen), David (Cheryl) and stepgrandfather “Grandpa Fred” to Steven, Billy, Andrea (Bill), Ben (Elena), Andrew (Hayley), Elise (Elie) and great-step-grandfather to Micah, Ezri, and Elias.

Fred was born on Chicago’s West Side and attended Marshall High School where he excelled at quarterback, captain of the football team, and president of the letterman’s club. After graduation he attended Western Illinois University before induction into the army at age 18 and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, commanding a company of 200 soldiers.

After returning home from the war, Fred attended DePaul University earning his CPA and J.D. degrees and worked at Arthur Andersen before starting his own law practice. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his poker club with childhood friends, serving clients, and solving the NY Times crossword puzzle. “Freddie” was known by family, friends, and clients for his unwavering loyalty, integrity and compassion.
