Obituary
Beloved husband of Janis (née Kramer) for 57 years. Loving father of Lisa (Neville) Dembo and Matt (Lauren) Edelheit. Proud grandfather of Jake and Ellory Dembo, and Hannah and Connor Edelheit. Cherished brother of Lonnie (Susan) Edelheit and Ellen (Al) Cohen. Dear brother-in-law of Linda (Tom) Magnus, Donna (Regis) McCormick, and Ken (Veronica) Kramer. Adored uncle and cousin to many. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Gert Edelheit.
After earning his marketing degree from Southern Illinois University, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Warrant Officer Helicopter Pilot during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he married Janis in 1968 and began a 45-year career in the specialty foods and confectionery industry. Bob’s global travels selling gummy bears culminated in his proud induction into the Candy Hall of Fame.
In retirement, Bob embraced an active lifestyle filled with hiking, biking, golf, tennis, and pickleball. Though a man of few words, he was known for his many acts of kindness, generosity, and quiet thoughtfulness. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

I am very sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a real asset to Thompson Chocolate’s sales growth when he represented us when I was VP Sales. Smart and easygoing, he was a true Mensch. May his memory be for a blessing.

What a perfect service!! Bob was kind, loving and supportive. Always the first to help clear a table, open a door, pay for your meal. If the world had more Bob Edelheit’s in it, there would be peace, love, compassion and no division or hatred. The world has lost one of its very best! Love you forever dear brother in law!!

Bob had a big hand in my 30 year career in the food manufacturing business when he recommended me for a job with Candyland Candies back in 1993. He was always there for me with good advice, moral support and encouragement. Whenever I had a tough decision to make or needed a sense of direction, Bob (and Janis) were the ones I could always count on.
This was so unexpected as Bob’s lifestyle was more like someone of 50 or 60 not 80. Veronica’s and my heart goes out to my sister Janis, my niece and nephew Lisa and Matt, their children and the Edelheit family We lost a great man who will be deeply missed and remembered by many.

One of my favorite pickleball partners! Bob was always easy going, fun – and very forgiving of his partner’s bad shots!
He was also one of my fave people to bump into and share a clever chat in passing at the club, I always walked away with a smile.
Our Pickleball Group and Midtown friends already miss him. Sending love and hugs to Janis and family.

Sending deepest condolences and love from our family to Janis, Matt, Lisa and their families. My parents always spoke so fondly of Bobby, who was dear and beloved friend for six decades. Bobby and Janis’ visit to see my dad while he was recovering in LA last year gave him a huge boost and will be forever cherished, as will so many of the great memories shared over the years. May Bob’s memory be a blessing.

I’ve basically known Bob all my life. He married my sister when I was 8. I was always so in awe of him. I’ll never forget when Kenny and I visited Bob and Janis in Texas when I was around 10. Bob let me stand on his feet and we got up on water skis. I was so excited!
Over the years when I would come to visit, he was always so accommodating and generous. The last time I came to visit in March 2025 in Palm Desert, I had some crackers in my backpack and it attracted a huge pile of ants!! I was horrified and felt like the worst house guest ever! Bob calmly took care of the situation and made me feel like it was no big deal. He just had a way of making people feel at ease with his good natured kidding around. We will miss him so much! My husband said that he doesn’t think he will ever be able to bring himself to eat gummy bears again. Rest in peace Gummibob.

Dear Janice, so very sorry to hear about Bob‘s passing! I am so thankful for all the great times I’ve got to spend with him golfing playing tennis and hiking in California. You and Bob were one of the first couples we met when we started coming to Palm Desert and made us feel so welcome there. Bob was always a pleasure to spend time with even when he was golfing poorly! He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences in Jody‘s as well. Our thoughts are with you Janice
