Lorraine Barsky

Lorraine Barsky (nee Witt), 89, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Beloved wife and best friend of Eugene; loving mother of Rosalyn (Scott) Purlee, Ira (Sharyn) Barsky, Ellen (Ira) Shapiro and the late Sheila (David) Weygandt, cherished Bubbe of Madi and Emme Barsky, Carrie (Elliott) Robbin, Joseph (Brittany) Shapiro, Jorie (Evan) Carlson, Marcus Shapiro; adored great Bubbe of Eden, Harper and Rory Robbin and Maeve Carlson and treasured friend of many. Lorraine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family deeply. She was always there with support, guidance, and an open heart. A proud resident of Skokie for 63 years, she was warm and social, and she cherished the many lifelong friendships she built, whether from Eugene’s treasured high school circle, to those cherished relationships built in Skokie or Hallandale Beach. After retiring, Lorraine and Eugene enjoyed traveling together, especially to her beloved second home in Florida, where they could relax and spend meaningful time with one another. She loved a good game of Mah Jongg and welcomed every opportunity to connect, host a party, or just get together, talk and share quality time. Lorraine will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Her kindness, loyalty, and generous spirit will be remembered always.
