Dear Janet, Galit, Sevonne and Families,
Very belated condolences on the passing of one fabulous mother, grandma and beyond. You were blessed to have this remarkable human being in your lives and I imagine these few months that have passed haven’t diminished your loss. May she continue to rest in peace. — Dottie and Al (Speisman) and our Families

I met Helen when we were both docents at the old Holocaust Museum and charged with interviewing future docents for the museum. We became fast friends and had some great times together. We decided to do an exhibit at the Washington Library and took the “L” down together. Those rides were so memorable. We got to know each other’s families and likes and dislikes and had a fun time traversing the city and participating in a very meaningful exhibit. I also fondly remember her surprise 80th birthday party. What a fun time that was!! I spoke with Helen about a week before her death and was worried about her. We were in Tucson and I only just got an email telling of her death yesterday. I send my heartfelt condolences to all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen was an extraordinary person – no nonsense – straight to the point. You always knew where she was at and that is so refreshing and real. I will miss Helen very much. May her memory be for a blessing. Baruch Dayan HaEmet

I met Helen in 1970 when we were both college students in the Special Education Department. I was eighteen years old, and she was a returning student and a mother of four. Despite being at very different points in our lives, we had so much in common. I later reconnected with Helen when we were both members of Moriah Congregation. She was a delightful, interesting, intelligent woman. I will remember her as a great lady.

Living next door to Helen has been wonderful. In the 7 years we have been neighbors we have been good friends and Canasta players. Helen has been a wonderful caring friend. I am a better person having known her. She will be remembered and sorely missed.

Helen was an amazing person and warm mentor in Deerfield Public Schools (in the mid-1980’s)! Even seeing her years later, she was thoughtful ,and remembered our brief time working together. May her memory be for a blessing. Sincere condolences.
