Obituary
Rosalie (Kurash) Kalmar, loving wife, mother, aunt and grandma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family – her favorite place to be. Born in Kansas City, Mo., Rosalie lived a full life dedicated to her love of family, which she instilled deep into her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking, shopping, watching her favorite shows and keeping up with the latest news of the day and what was happening in the lives of her loved ones. She created a loving, warm home and wonderful life filled with constant laughter and lasting memories with her husband, Richard, who she married in 1956. Together with their three kids, they moved to Roselle, Ill., in 1973, where she lived the rest of her life. After her children were grown, Rosalie was proud to take on a new role at Medinah Primary School where she worked for over 20 years as a teacher’s aide and was beloved by students and staff. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family – from her 67 years of marriage to her husband, to her weekends spent at home or out with her kids and grandkids and daily phone calls from countless family members – Rosalie was always surrounded by her favorite people. Forever young at heart, quick-witted, sharp as a tack and the most loving, Rosalie left an impactful impression on everyone who knew her and she will be endlessly missed. Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her father Jacob and her mother Helen, as well as her sister Ida, her brother Gene and her son Jeffrey. She is survived and will always be remembered as the best mom and grandma by her children Janice (Kent) McDill, Margie (John) Shay and Alan (Melanie) Kalmar, as well as her nine grandchildren Haley McDill, Hannah (Anthony) Scola, Daniel McDill, Lindsey McDill, Lauren Shay, Kyle McDill, Sydnie Shay, Jackson Kalmar and Anna Kalmar, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service is private. Interment at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Rosalie’s honor to any education-based or teacher support organization of your choice.
