Mike for me was a colleague of mine through snowflake club. Every trip he always had a smile on his face. He was always eager to hear how the lessons went. All in all Mike was a great guy and always had a smile on his face. He will be dearly missed.

Mike was among the instructors who taught me to ski, and later helped me to be a better instructor myself when I returned to Snowflake Club in my 40’s.
He was a fine man and my life is better for having known him.

Skiing and sailing with Mike. He was a wonderful man. Cared for everyone. So generous in time, spirit and activity. There is so much more. He will be missed by many.

Michael never threw me off a boat to teach me how to sail—but I sure heard that story often from Andrew. I think that’s part of how I formed some early assumptions about Michael before I really got to know him.
One summer, returning from college, I needed a place to stay and ended up living at the Schwartz home. His kids were at that age where they didn’t always want to hang out with Dad, so I often found myself in the kitchen chatting with Michael one-on-one.
He asked me thoughtful, probing questions about my life and was genuinely curious about my thoughts on all kinds of topics. He shared a lot about how he viewed the world, and I came to know him in a much deeper way.
He made me feel welcome. He made me feel like he cared about me and my life. At that time, that attention and care meant more to me than he probably realized. Or maybe he did realize—and that’s why he did it.
I will miss him deeply. May his memory be a blessing.
