Obituary

Elaine Harris, 90, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Beryl, Elaine was the loving mother of Bruce (Terry), Dr. Steven, Jonathan (Holly) and the late Laurence (Dianne). She was the much-loved Bubbie of Jordyn (Jack) Carmody, Taylor, Scott, Danielle, Alex, Paige, Zachary, and Zoe (Brian) Kleczynski; and the great-grandmother of Jaxon Kleczynski. Elaine was the cherished sister of Fern (the late Gerry) Rosenberg and the late Shirley (the late Robert) Lessin. She was also a wonderful sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, and a dear friend to many. Elaine was funny, charming, intelligent, and deeply loved. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed bridge, kaluki, and was always delighted by a great opera or a night at the theater. She and her beloved Beryl were active members of the Great Vest Side Club, sharing many meaningful dinners with dear friends. Above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family-especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched. We began a friendship when we shared a room in the hospital after the birth of Johnathon and James. It was a wonderful mix of children that got along with each other and adults that were schooled by Beryl about the opera. He invited us to see I Puritani at the Lyric opera. That was our first and led to a life long love of opera. I learned to play handball, not great, but enough to enjoy getting outscored by a speedy “old guy”. There was also a giant dog named “Baby”. Fortunately she was as friendly as she was big. The Harris’ house was a home of love,friendship and joy that was easily shared. The tribute to Elaine was a joy to share. The love the “boys” showed was a wish for every parent. Carol Ron
