Howard E. Bernstein, 97. Beloved husband for 75 years to Beverlee, nee Fishman; devoted father of Lee (John) Thorpe; fond uncle of Scott (Debbie) Fishman and Lynn Fishman (Dale Lazowski); loving son of the late Samuel and Lottie Bernstein. Howard’s family would like to thank his team of caregivers for their dedication and compassion. Howard was a proud WWII Army Veteran. Howard was a restaurant owner for many years, most notably the Pioneer Grill at North Ave. and Pulaski. He was kind, giving, and friendly. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Chapel service Tuesday, July 1, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights.
