Obituary

Judith “Judy” Kaplan, nee Rosenberg, 91, July 19, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Martin for 67 wonderful years; loving mother of Jill (Jeff Axelrod) Kaplan, Mark (Cheryl) Kaplan and Bob (Dara Altshuler) Kaplan. Devoted Grammy to Hannah (Bennett) Nast, Charlie (Laura Christensen Garcia) and Sophie Kaplan; Alex (Joanna Cohen) Kaplan and Chase Kaplan; Julia and Ariel Axelrod. Cherished sister-in-law of Marge (the late Harvey) Kaplan. Adored aunt and great aunt to many. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Minnie Rosenberg, siblings Florence (Alex) Dolnick and David Bernstein, and many loving siblings-in-law. Lovingly cared for by Alice and Perla. Judy was a gifted classically trained pianist who as a youth played Beethoven’s third piano concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, but her greatest sense of joy and purpose came from her devotion to family. Judy and were companions in life for more than eighty years, a relationship based on an enduring appreciation and affection. Although I moved to Los Angeles sixty two years ago there was hardly a year in this long period in which we did not see each other. She was an exemplary person with an exemplary character, and I am grateful for the blessings that this fruitful relationship. brought to me in raising my spirits and elevating my life.

Rest in peace, our beloved Judy.
